Orientation to UNDP

Objective - This course has been developed to introduce new staff to the mandate of the organization, our organizational goals, work and values to enable them to become effective members of UNDP and contribute to the achievement of the MDG goals.

The module is intended to provide to newly recruited staff and personnel in our Country Offices, Headquarters and Liaison Offices an environment where they can learn about UNDP, get basic information on its practices, structure and management, understand the conditions of services and support they would get from the organization as well as their duties and required conduct. The course is composed of 5 lessons:

  • Introduction to UNDP
  • Highlights of the history of UNDP
  • How UNDP works
  • Structure and Management
  • Human Resources Information

Expected duration: 6 hours.

Assessment - Once you start your assignment in your new duty station and have been registered as staff members then you can log in to the UNDP Intranet and complete the actual assessment / certification in the Leaning Management System.

 

Basic Security in the Field: Staff Safety, Health and Welfare prepared by UNSECOORD and UNHCR

Objective: This course is mandatory for all UNDP staff members. The course can help you to avoid or minimize possible dangers and equip you with basic knowledge of how to proceed if faced with insecure conditions.

The course contains lessons that are engaging, lively and realistic while helping you to achieving the following objectives:

  • Identify and assess risks to staff security in your external (working and living) and personal environments
  • Take appropriate precautionary and preparative action
  • React in the event of actual danger, threat or injury
  • Understand the psychological reaction to security incidents and know where to obtain help

Expected duration: 4 hours.

Assessment: The final test is made up of 30 questions and you can make up to 6 mistakes only. Please take a print of the final certification.

 

Advanced Security in The Field

Objective: this course is mandatory for all UNDP staff members going to a duty station that is in security phase 1 or more.

Expected duration: 4 hours.

Assessment: The final test is made up of 30 questions and you can make up to 6 mistakes only. Please take a print of the final certification.

 

The Gender Journey – Thinking Outside the Box

Objective: This course is mandatory for all UNDP staff members. The training is to enhance awareness on gender equality and to better understand why gender equality is central to UNDP’s mandate.

Expected duration: 2 hours.

Assessment: Once you start your assignment in your new duty station and have been registered as staff members then you can log in to the UNDP Intranet and complete the actual assessment / certification in the Leaning Management System.

 

UN Programme on Prevention of Harassment, Sexual Harassment and Abuse of Authority

Objective: This course is mandatory for all UNDP staff members. The on-line training will ensure that everyone knows that harassment is defined as any improper and unwelcome conduct that has or might reasonably be expected or perceived to cause offence or humiliation to another person.

Expected duration: 2-3 hours.

Assessment: Once you start your assignment in your new duty station and have been registered as staff members then you can log in to the UNDP Intranet and complete the actual assessment / certification in the Leaning Management System.

 

Ethics

Objective: The course on Ethics is designed to assist all the staff members of UNDP in understanding what is expected of them in their professional and personal behaviour. The course enables UNDP staff members to uphold the three values of UNDP - Integrity, Respect and Results orientation. It stresses on the necessity of staff to comply with the UN charter, Standards of Conduct for International Civil Services and Staff Regulations and Rules.

Expected duration: 2-3 hours.
